PTI Orthotics and Foot Resource Lab Logo

About

PTI Orthotics is the only full service, in-house foot orthotic fabrication facility in Boulder and Longmont, Colorado. We fabricate feet orthotics of all types but specialize in flexible, foot-friendly designs. Our goal is to refute the myth that an effective orthotic has to be made from uncomfortable materials that are difficult to get used to.

When you choose PTI Orthotics & Foot Resource Lab, you will receive only the highest quality custom-molded products made from neutral position 3-D scans of your feet or feet casts. Unlike most orthotic labs, PTI Orthotics has been trained in the most advanced, medically-based intrinsic posting methods to date, as well as CAD/CAM design-manufacturing and CNC machining. This allows us to fabricate your device from soft foam, ultra thin carbon fiber, squishy visco-elastic polymer gel, and various high-temperature, high-strength thermoplastics. We may also use a combination of these materials, depending on your unique needs.

At PTI Orthotics, we never cut quality to increase productivity. We don’t use direct mold (molding material applied directly to the foot) techniques, library systems, mirror imaging technology, or pre-fabricated arch shells – and we don’t outsource the manufacturing process.

Instead, all of our custom-molded feet orthotics are made 100% in-house, along with most of the components used in the fabrication process. We even make the fixtures used to make those components. Our products are custom-fabricated for your individual foot, not assembled. Much of this knowledge and dedication to quality can be attributed to our founder, Aaron Anderson, C. Ped, who has 35 years of clinical practice and experience in fabricating traditional handcrafted orthotics as well.

In Colorado, anyone can open an office and fabricate orthotics. Many self-proclaimed experts, which have no formal training or schooling, are now filling prescriptions for foot orthotics. It is not uncommon to have shoe stores or athletic stores have a person on staff that makes custom supports in the back room. Going this route is not ideal in any way.

EXPERIENCE COUNTS WHEN SELECTING A C. PED.

Having served all of Colorado since 1991, Aaron is one of the most experienced C. Peds in the state of Colorado. Aaron served two years as an apprentice under another Board Certified Pedorthist before becoming Board Certified himself in 1993. Aaron is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School Orthotic – Prosthetic Center with a course of study in Foot Orthotics – Prosthetics, Comprehensive Pedorthic Management of the Foot and Clinical Concepts and Fabrication Techniques. Aaron has had advanced training in CAD/CAM software and 3D design, CNC machining and advanced manufacturing methods, pediatric heel stabilizers, gait plates, pediatric and adult biomechanical theory.

He has also had advanced training in orthopedic shoe modifications and eight different intrinsic biomechanical feet orthotic posting methods. Intrinsic posting is the altering or modification of the neutral position positive foot model or neutral position 3D scan to induce a more normal muscle function, improve alignment, control abnormal motion or abnormal position of the foot and to control the abnormal motion or abnormal position of the lower extremity that is affected by the position and/or motion of the foot. After these intrinsic posting methods are applied, any material molded over the foot model will have those attributes molded directly into the orthotic itself.

Aaron has been published in O&P Edge Magazine (a national orthotic, prosthetic, pedorthic trade journal) and has been a national presenter/educator for one of the premier Orthotic, Prosthetic and Pedorthic annual conferences in the United States. He has also mentored other pedorthists from several countries.

BOARD CERTIFIED

Patients, referring physicians and consumers can rest assured that when working with PTI Orthotics & Foot Resource Lab, they are working with a trained professional that is Board Certified in pedorthics. What is pedorthics? (ped-or-thiks): The design, manufacture, fit and/or modification of foot orthotics, shoes and related devices to alleviate foot pain caused by disease, overuse or injury.

ONGOING EDUCATION

Because Aaron is Board Certified, he is required to fulfill continuing educational requirements by attending classes, seminars and symposiums, sometimes several times a year. Because of this, you as a patient or referring physician can rest assured that you are working with a true professional who is educated on the most proven methods, uses the best materials and is up to date with the latest advances in the science of pedorthics.

IN-DEMAND FOR UNIQUE DESIGNS & CLINICS

With his extensive experience in orthotic design, fabrication and modifications, Aaron is called upon for consultations by many medical practitioners. Aaron has designed over 20 models of foot orthotics that are unique to PTI Orthotics and is seeking patents on several of these because of their effectiveness in treating certain pathologies. He has developed many clinical solutions based on the latest concepts in bio-mechanics and superior manufacturing methods. Through PTI Orthotics, Aaron has sponsored educational events for the American Physical Therapy Association and has offered educational courses at the Colorado Physical Therapy Institute. Many sports and physical therapy clinics seek Aaron’s advice in bio-mechanical evaluations, gait analysis, casting methods and orthotic fabrication.

Aaron knows the foot orthotic and shoe business. He is a trained, second-generation professional shoe fitter and an active member of the American Board For Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics.

Aaron is a highly skilled engineer and developer of Orthotics. I have suffered with pronation and pain in my hip, leg and foot for over a year. He created and made adjustments to my custom orthotic over the year. Together, we are working to get it right. He takes the time to teach and offer generous support. I am so pleased with his care and attention. He is a 5 Star practitioner!

A long overdue but nevertheless heartfelt thanks to Aaron from our whole family! Over two decades, you gave all four of us pain-free running, hiking, distance walking, tennis, weight-lifting and thus, enjoyment of life through your perfectly-tailored orthotics! AND also, you patiently adjusted them as needed over the years. Furthermore, you always explained how various tendons and muscles influenced the shape of the orthotic, thus motivating us to do our stretches! We're looking forward to at least some years more of your invaluable service and advice, even from afar! A Front Range institution! From Alcinda Cundiff and family.

Aaron is very professional. I have been using his orthotics for many years hiking in rough terrain. They helped a great deal with some issues I was having with one ankle. I recently purchased a pair for my bike. I highly recommend this business.

I’m so happy with my new orthotics! I have worn orthotics for many years and this is the first time they were done right with no adjustments needed. Aaron was so professional, took his time with measurements and casting. He listened to my concerns and incorporated issues with my feet and back into the construction of the orthotics.
