Custom orthotics can be costly. Although expensive, your orthotics are something you don’t want to go cheap on, as failure to support your feet can lead to serious injuries and longer-term damage to your joints—not to mention more expensive medical expenses further down the line. If you’re having trouble paying for your custom orthotics, here are four ways you could get help to pay for them.
- Check your health insurance plan
Although not all insurance plans will cover custom orthotics, some may pay for some or all of them if they have been prescribed or recommended by a medical doctor.
- Use your FSA or HSA
If you have a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account, it’s very likely you’ll be able to use your funds to purchase your custom orthotics.
- Medicare and Medicaid
If you’re eligible for Medicare or Medicaid, you could get your orthotics covered by your plan.
- Check with your employer
If you have a job that requires you to be on your feet for most of the day or requires regular strenuous activity, your employer may help you cover the cost of your custom orthotics. It may be a perk that you’re unaware of or an expense that you can claim on your taxes.
