Can I carry on running with shin splints?

Orthotics

Shin splints are a very common injury for people who enjoy running or dancing as a key form of exercise. They are an inflammation of the tibialis anterior muscle; and are often caused by overuse of the leg muscles, tendons or shin bone, perhaps after a long period with little or no such exercise; or an increase in training activities.

If someone suffering from shin splints tries to continue with the activities that have caused the condition, they can find this worsens to a stress fracture of the tibia or shin bone. This then is likely to lead to several weeks of inaction.

PTI offers custom orthotics services in both Boulder and Longmont, delivering the highest level of foot care.
